The Trons: 'Times Up' 2011

 

Video by Snakebeings filmed in Matangi dairy factory. The Trons are a robot band made by Greg Locke. Some animation has been used in this video but the Trons play all the music on electric guitar and drums and keyboard. Vocals are made using a special vocal--tape deck built into the singer's control unit. The robots are actually playing the song in the video although the actual song has been overdubbed afterwards- lip-synch robots! The great benifit of making a video of robots is that they play the music the same every time-in theory at least- although due to the flexibility of meccano there is a human feel in the slight delays.

 

Bingoficator - Random Prime Number Generator and Sound arranger -2017

 

Seven channel sound cut-up device - for use on voices and street recordings in a Burroughs-influenced approach to sound. Demonstrated in this video using a single output into a Roland Cube amp (Plate of toast optional). In practice the seven outputs can be connected to seven different amplifiers and speakers arranged in a circle around the audience "Septo-Phonic Sound" (Like quadrophonic sound but instead there are seven speakers) As seen in the video the Bingofacator generates random numbers 3 to 97 but also including the number 93 - just cos i like that number and as a resonance with the 93rd currents of this multiverse. The Bingoficator has been made and played by Dr. Emit Snake-Beings. The next step is to record the street sounds and ambient voices uttered in the journey between New Zealand, Tokyo, Kyoto, London and Hull, where the gallery residence will take place between the 6th and 20 September 2017 as part of the Uk city of culture #hull2017 and the 'Alive at the infinate play' festival. DiY Axoloti Analogue Synth demo Port Charlmers June 2017

Home made synth made and played by Dr. Emit Snake-Beings in Port Chalmers, New Zealand June 2017. Machine made from an Axoloti programmable / patchable analogue synth module with custom-made hardware and copper panel added. Built into a flight case for travel to Hull as part of the 'Alive to the infinite play' festival and gallery residency, 6th to 20th September 2017.

Bingo Splicer played at Hackney HackSpace London October 2017

A spliced event using oscilloscopes and two silvercase machines made by Snakebeings. Voices, music, street recordings and collected sounds are fed into the bingo-splicer which then chops up the sounds into fragments using a nine step rhythm generator (Nine switches in a circle generating trigger beats). Patterns are made from the trigger beats allowing short fragments of sounds to go through the oscilloscopes and into the sound recorder. Various layers have been recorded and edited.
